i think the title was "Experience the celebrity century"... however it opened it grabbed my attention: celebrity century. what a perfect way to describe it! I was excited to read this, even though it was just a monthly newsletter from my friendly ShermansTravel site. so i opened it in anticipation - - - an ad for celebrity cruises! (all rights reserved) they are inviting us to their new ship, "century". clever.

i began to think about the phrase and how it defines our present era. and for the first time, reality entertainment didn't make me cringe. what an interesting time to take part in; a time when anyone can become a superstar and feel that their life, or some small segment thereof, is worth the attention of the connected world within media as we know it - greater connected than ever before. and if this is the trend today, imagine the possibilities! it's as though we are children, fascinated by the ways we can receive attention. and maturity most often refines, does it not?

so here we are: leaving the infancy of our existence, becoming playful children, experimenting with communication. fumbling, laughing, crying, soaring... and hoping we can become everything that we dream of being. have any of you yet heard "the secret"?!

the hottest thing to hit major cities all over the u.s. of a. (with great thanks due to Oprah), "the secret" is a collaboration by physicists, artists and other teachers of philosophies that have existed through the ages. primarily covering the universal law of attraction, the secret explains in layman's terms how all thought and feeling can be broken down into different frequencies of energy. positive frequencies attract positive frequencies, and negative – negative. may not seem like anything new, and it isn't. but it is a refreshing reminder and approach to reaching our goals in life and achieving happiness. remembering that the world is truly abundant in resources and that everyone can live the life they want to live, while still respecting the desires of others were the most striking reminders to me. now, let's apply this to the celebrity century...

let's spread the "secret" far and wide! imagine.

imagine a world where everyone loved themselves and wanted to live the best life they could live. imagine if everyone believed they deserved it. imagine a world where all decisions were made in our own best interests, yet not harmful to others. imagine... it's fun and it can't hurt you! it is possible. it can begin in this celebrity century! with consumerism reaching dizzying heights, we are quickly remembering that material objects alone cannot wholly satisfy us. does that mean we should throw our modern conveniences out of the window? quite the contrary. we can choose to be grateful for how objects enhance our lives and we can allow technology to enrich our lives by using it in a positive way.

it truly is as simple as deciding to make daylight saving 3 weeks earlier. spread the word.
